4 Brushing Techniques

Although there are many brushing techniques, the following is the typical. However, because it is said that with only one technique, plaque would not be removed adequately, with two or more techniques, the more effective plaque control will be possible.

Scraping Technique
The angle of the brush has to be at 90 degree to the long axis of the tooth. Give vibratory movement with short and back-and-forth motions.

Rolling-Stroke Technique
Hold the toothbrush with the bristles pointing at the roots of the tooth. Roll the bristles toward the chewing surfaces.

Fones Technique
The angle of the brush has to be at 90 degree to the long axis of the tooth. Give vibratory movement with small circle motions.

Bass Technique
Place the bristles of the brush at the gum, and the angle of the brush has to be at 45 degree to the long axis of the tooth. Give vibratory movement with short and back-and-forth motions.
