Dental Caries

Tooth decay or a cavity is medically called dental caries. This is a disease that bacteria in our mouth provide acid and damage hard tooth structure. Dental caries are classified by various scales. The most famous of the scales is the scale of the progress of the disease.

C0 means the first stage of dental caries. In this stage, the crown may have some white spots and some pigmentation or its clarity may decrease. However, tooth has not been bored and can be restored to the healthy condition by appropriate treatment.

C1 is the stage that enamel is bored and cannot be restored by natural healing power. Because enamel has no nerve, having C1 teeth, you may not feel pain. However the erosed area of the enamel sometimes looks black. With C1 teeth, it is necessary to be treated in the dental office as soon as possible.

In C2 stage, not only enamel but also dentin have been bored. With cold drinks or foods, the teeth may ache. If your dental caries have reached the stage, you need the professional dental treatment that remove the affected area and fill it with some durable materials.

C3 means that the center of the tooth, pulp are bored. Unlike enamel or dentin most of that consist of the mineral, pulp has a lot of nerve and blood vessels. The infection of pulp causes some inflammation and a severe pain. Becoming worse and with the necrosis of pulp by the bacteria intrude deeper, the affected area may suppurate and your face may be swollen. If your pulp has been died, the treatment of "Pulling out the tooth nerve" will be needed.

C4 is the last stage that the crown has been destroyed and only the root remains. Various bacteria can invade our body from the dead pulp, and complications can be caused. In this stage, it is necessary that you should remove the remaining root and receive the medical treatment of bridge, denture or implant.
